My original post follows:
I have watched the Shield for a while, enjoyed the show, great writing, but this series finale made the previous worse season finale (The Sopranos) look like an acadamy award blockbuster!
Sure, Shane and Mira died, but not in the way they should have (Gunned down in the streets), Ronnie went to jail, and Vic? Vic got a federal desk job. VIc's family is in the Witness Protection program, which I feel Vic's wife Corrine should have also been killed for her general betrayal. Plus Aceveda appears to be ready to become Mayor, Claudette is terminal, Dutch has a seriel killer who killed his own mom (with no resolution to THAT story, now that I think about it, Dutch COULD have done it, he was flirting with killing a few seasons back, it is possible). Sure, Vic did lose his family, he lost his power, he is now under that ICE blode ladies control, so maybe it is "poetic", but forget that, I wanted to see some people get offed!!
If a "Shield" movie doesn't come out in 6 months, I will boycot FX...hell they cancelled "the Riches" so they've been on thin ice with me...I'm Just saying...
This is after I have had a chance to let the whole thing settle:
O.K. after letting it settle for a couple of days, I have to admit, the Shield Finale was pretty well written. Sure, I wanted to see Acevada go down, but in thinking about it, Vic got a fate worse than death, and I felt bad for Shane as a parent, and I knew he was going to do what he did.
I still say Ronnie got screwed though...
I never saw the show but Twitter was blowing up last night with folks talking about this. Why do writers always mess up the finale? It's weird.

I disagree1 I think this episode is EXACTLY what we needed after that BS from the Sopranos (Everyone thought their cable service was out). At least with the shield we got answers know how this thing ended, and it was not what anyone expected. I say this has satisfied me as a veiwer, and I am glad to have followed this show for so long. After watching the finale of the Sopranos, I wished I had never started watching the show. KUDOS to THE Shield

I can't believe you are dogging that finale. It was Awesome.
The Shane/Mara deaths were poetic justice. Shane did it because of Vic's Immunity deal. Then the barn cops find the bodies. Then Vic comes back in and you can see and feel the contempment that cops have toward the Super Cop.
The Claudette/Vic confrontation at the end was spectacular with Vic not saying a word.
How else could it end but Vic screwing everyone in his wake and in the end screwing himself.
