    I Believe

I have my mansion now, Oh
    I Believe, I Believe, I Believe
I'll have me mansion now, Oh
I Believe, I believe just what he said

I'll do all things through Christ, Oh
    I Believe, I Believe, I Believe
I'll do all things through Christ, Oh
I Believe, I believe just what he said

He shall supply my need, Oh
    I Believe, I Believe, I Believe
He shall supply my need, Oh
I Believe, I believe just what he said

    BRIDGE I:

By faith I believe it, By faith I receive it
By faith I can have it, By faith I can share it
I believe just what he said

I have my mansion now, Oh
    I Believe, I Believe, I Believe
I'll have me mansion now, Oh
I Believe, I believe just what he said

He worked it out for me, Oh
    I Believe, I Believe, I Believe
He worked it out for me, Oh
I Believe, I believe just what he said

    Bridge II:

By faith I will know it, By faith I will show it
By faith I will bare it, and now I'll declare
I believe just what he said

I have my mansion now, Oh
    I Believe, I Believe, I Believe
I'll have me mansion now, Oh
I Believe, I believe just what he said

    I Believe, I Believe
    I Believe, I Believe, I Believe
    I Believe, I Believe
I Believe, I believe just what he said

He loosed the guilty stain, Oh
    I Believe, I Believe, I Believe
He loosed the guilty stain, Oh
I Believe, I Believe just what he said

Perfect list! And thanks for the link!

Thanks for the advice. I did try to avoid screw ups when I wrote my post for Monnie but I guess I inadvertently stepped into some (at least #1) of them.

Well done, DJBA!

Baby brother...I would not have had a problem with ANYTHING you wanted to say as you should know by now. Cool? Cool.

P.S. Tell your wife I miss her!

Excellent! These are good ground rules for me to keep in mind as I venture into the kinds of discussions we've seen recently. Thank you for this.

I hate the word "race." I much rather prefer to use the term ethnicity, becuase its mmore accurate. But, "race" is the accecptable term, so oh well.

You made some very good points. Keep up the good work. And listen to your wife!
L

I agree Lola, I believe and know that the concept of "race" is a scientific fiction, a social construct. I prefer ethnicity myself...

Hey Monnie, glad you are feeling better :-)

DJ Black Adam,

Thanks for dropping by plezWorld and contributing to my blog.

This is a very interesting post because it is very difficult for people of the same race to discuss race in a rational and "responsible" way, because as you stated in your post, race (as we know it) is an artificial and irrational way of looking at people. Now when you mix the races and try to discuss race, it becomes more difficult, because you have Blacks carrying the baggage (and it is a lot of baggage) of being Black in America and native whites carry the White Guilt of being the "ruling class" since the beginning of the US, immigrants carry the baggage of showing up and reaping the rewards that was denied for so long to Blacks, and there are Blacks who are not native to the US whose ancestors may have never been part of the US slave trade. WHEW! I've already written MORE than I had planned... keep up the good work and I'll be back to read others' responses. Thanks!

Great list! The funny thing is that if we all did #3, then the rest of the list wouldn't even be necessary. But we don't, so it is.

My only thing is that America must understand that racism is a European (white) invention developed to justify slavery. Racism is power-based, which means that those without power cannot be racist. One of my personal peeves is when white folk try to call a black person with stong views on race a racist. By design a black person cannot be racist because he doesn't have control of the resources that establish power. If black folk as a group could redline, deny loans, kill job applications, deny admissions into certain colleges or unions based on race then we could be racists. But we can't so we aren't.

My point is that if we ever got to a place where we could set ground rules for a discussion on race, one rule, for me, would have to be that we all must undertand that the only true racists in the world are white.

I think this is a strong list. But I must say, i disagree with Keith's final words.

"as a group could redline, deny loans, kill job applications, deny admissions into certain colleges or unions based on race then we could be racists."

There are countries outside of the west where White people do not in fact have this power and it is the power of non-White majorities.

Hello Thom and thanks for posting, you wrote:

“There are countries outside of the west where White people do not in fact have this power and it is the power of non-White majorities.”

Sure there are, most where Whites went by their own choosing. In the case with Whites however, many places they have gone (i.e. India, China, many parts of Africa) they subjugated the native population and imported slaves to set up systems of inequity. Very different paradigmn we are discussing.

Oh, I don't fully disagree, I just take issue with the "only true racists are white comment" since there are nations in which racism occurs and the power structure isn't "White".

I think part of the problem is in the discussion of race and racism is that often people on both sides of the discussion confuse racism and bigotry (Which is why white people often fall back on "Black people can be racist to!").

Oh, and thanks for the welcome. I really enjoyed your contribution to Loren's One Diverse Comic Book Nation on the Spectre!

I can see your point, a racist, as is one who believes their race is superior or other races as inferior anyone of any “race” can be. I think more often than not, the problem we discuss here in the US is one of systematic discrimination against the black descendents of the African slaves.

Anyone can hate though, that has been “Equal Opportunity” since the dawn of our real race, the human race. Our sub classifications of “race” are scientific fictions and social creations, hopefully we can get past them. Otherwise, we won’t be prepared for when we are attacked by the Kree, Skrull, Shi’ar, Thanagarians, Dominion, Martians, Klingons or Saiyans!! lol

True. Something odd about the human need to classify everything and everyone, if you ask me. :)

Personally I am working on building a shelter to house a few hundred people for when the Skrulls come.
