Here are some excerpts with my comments in bold.
"Bargain-hungry shoppers stepped on a fallen Wal-Mart worker, who died Friday morning, after the crowd knocked down the store's front doors -- and the worker -- during the "utter chaos" of a Black Friday shopping melee, Nassau County police said…Fleming said an estimated 2,000 people had gathered in line around 5 a.m. as the store was preparing to open. Asked at a news conference whether the store had enough security given the crowds that Black Friday shopping typically attracts, Fleming said no. Four shoppers had minor injuries, police said…People in the rear of the line began pushing, cascading the people in the front into the doors, which were knocked off their hinges, Fleming said…Hundreds of shoppers who then streamed in literally stepped on the worker who later died, Fleming said."
Amazing. These people knocked the doors off the hinges injured four other shoppers and KILLED this poor employee, trampled them to death. See, this is the MAIN reason I don’t do the whole “Christmas” thing.
I am a Christian, I love JESUS, but I know His birthday wasn’t Dec. 25. Now, I am not going to go into all the anti-Christian rants of what Dec 25 really “is”, but what it really IS as it appears is a day of commercialism, faux concern for the less fortunate and the Retail Industries golden goose.
Folks, for those of you who celebrate the holiday because of Jesus and / or family tradition, I understand, and am not downing you for that, BUT, the Holiday is a sales tool, nothing more. Sure people get together at their churches about this time of year, and feel guilty about all their lack of concern for people in general and bring in the “I dug in the back of the pantry and brought my old can of stewed tomatoes for the homeless” offering, but really, people appear to me to be their most selfish and self serving around this time of year. This horrible incident, in my opinion, is indicative of the whole true spirit of Christmas, that being the spirit of Greed. As we read on:
“Shoppers who surged past the fallen Wal-Mart worker into the store were asked to leave by other store workers, some of them crying and visibly upset, said one shopper, Kimberly Cribbs, of Far Rockaway. Though rumors circulated among the shoppers that someone had been badly injured, people ignored the Wal-Mart workers' requests that they stop shopping, move to the front of the store and exit, Cribbs said."They kept shopping. It's not right. They're savages," Cribbs said.
Yep, they sure in the hell kept shopping, because everyone is out on their own “its about me crap” to give a damn about someone else, even if they are dying or dead. Walmart is partially to blameas retailers look to make up for the year in one day, but I can't blame a business for catering to greed, you want to spend they want your money. However, this poor person was killed just by trying to make some money, who knows what this persons needs were, who know about their family? Tragic. Fact is, I am disgusted at Americans during this “wonderful time of year”, the hypocrisy is maddening...I'm Just saying…
