    I Believe

I have my mansion now, Oh
    I Believe, I Believe, I Believe
I'll have me mansion now, Oh
I Believe, I believe just what he said

I'll do all things through Christ, Oh
    I Believe, I Believe, I Believe
I'll do all things through Christ, Oh
I Believe, I believe just what he said

He shall supply my need, Oh
    I Believe, I Believe, I Believe
He shall supply my need, Oh
I Believe, I believe just what he said

    BRIDGE I:

By faith I believe it, By faith I receive it
By faith I can have it, By faith I can share it
I believe just what he said

I have my mansion now, Oh
    I Believe, I Believe, I Believe
I'll have me mansion now, Oh
I Believe, I believe just what he said

He worked it out for me, Oh
    I Believe, I Believe, I Believe
He worked it out for me, Oh
I Believe, I believe just what he said

    Bridge II:

By faith I will know it, By faith I will show it
By faith I will bare it, and now I'll declare
I believe just what he said

I have my mansion now, Oh
    I Believe, I Believe, I Believe
I'll have me mansion now, Oh
I Believe, I believe just what he said

    I Believe, I Believe
    I Believe, I Believe, I Believe
    I Believe, I Believe
I Believe, I believe just what he said

He loosed the guilty stain, Oh
    I Believe, I Believe, I Believe
He loosed the guilty stain, Oh
I Believe, I Believe just what he said

I read the Sun-Times article and had to laugh out loud. While I applaud Gina's aggressive action against BET, I think she's got some social issues that she needs to work out. (OMG!) Despite My disdain for her, I will say that I find it comical that Essence is on her bandwagon, especially when they billed Ludacris to one of their music festivals. (BTW, I'm no Luda hater, I think he's comical, but Essence should make up their minds what they want to do and stand firm.)

And I agree with you, BA. The Old Guard is just that, old and out of touch with modern day issues.

DJBA,

Great post; I agree that the so-called old guard is upset. But as you know people who have power, whether it's real or not, don't just give it up.

Blogs are the new Black media and just in time because we really don't have much else.

DJBA -

Awesome post. The old black guard has refused to stay contemporary and has refused to share a seat at the table with the young. We will overtake them with our techology. Still working on the Obama thing for me, but I appreciate your support of him.

@Verb

I find it interesting that you can express "distain" for someone you know nothing about and is clearly doing more than most. How does your "distain" help anything? Why don't you save the "distain" abd share whatever you think Gina needs to "work out" on her blog with others.

I like Obama, but until he supports same-sex marriage nation-wide I won't be able to vote for him with a clear conscience. (Though I probably will anyway since he and Clinton are really the only choices.)

Well Professor Tracey, since you asked...

From reading her blog in the past, she has come off as fanatical man-hater. And yes, I can use the word 'disdain' based on what I've read, as she is expressing her feelings and thoughts that I feel are quite sexist. Maybe she's toned down, I don't know. I stopped reading her blog some time ago because it was too over the top for My particular taste. The thing is that when someone seems fanatical beyond reason (as she came across to Me), people shut them out and stop listening (as I did). You don't have to agree with it and you don't have to like it, but those are My feelings shaped by her words. I don't need to know anything more about her. I'm kool with My assessment.

In regard to My disdain helping, I didn't say that it would and didn't think it would matter so much to someone else, as it does to you. (hmmmm) And as far as what I think she needs to work out, I will not go into that, as that would be out of line, but I FIRMLY believe a good therapist would be beneficial.

Please don't make this into something that it's not, other than a person that isn't on her bandwagon and does not share her views. It's okay to not follow the popular kid.

BE peace.

@Verb

Thanks for the reply. I'm not trying to make anything out your comments, but maybe you shouldn't make such unprovable and disparaging comments, if you don't want to be asked about them.

Sounds like Gina may not be the only with social issues to workout. Maybe the two of you could share a therapist.

And if she is a "fanatical manhater" then nearly every black male blogger is crazy woman-hating. Example, Bryon Crawford's blog. I just never feel the need to dismiss a blogger personally in my comments, I just quit reading.

You are welcome to your views and opinions. And no one was asking you to support her views or jump on her bandwagon. I just find it extremely interesting that when a black woman is accomplishing something positive, there is always someone so willing to tear her down.

Also, Essence is not on her bandwagon. They have taken some major criticism from her and other black female bloggers and they are trying to put out the fire. Maybe Gina can get the longest running Black women's magazine to talk about something else besides P. Diddy and his hoes.

I would love to hear your suggests on how black women and men can work together to make things better. I have challenged DL Black Adam and he has stepped up. I am planning to do a focus on what brothers are thinking, so if you want to share, I'm truly interested in hearing your views.

@Professor Tracey:

“DL” Black Adam? Hey, I may not be Denzel, but DL? Dang…

As for the direction this discussion has taken. Look, I don’t agree with everything my fellow Black Bloggers have to say, and I am sure they don’t completely agree with me either (I have yet to get support for my Liberian Invasion force, people it takes money to hire mercenaries!); but seriously, it is about respect.

I believe that Gina is sincere, and respect what she does and support her anyway that I can. Would “I” do things differently than she in some cases? Sure, maybe I would just lead an expeditionary force to BET Headquarters and take it over BY FORCE, and start using their bandwith to pump POSITIVITY into the airwaves, BUT, that’s me (Dr. Doom and Thor are amongst my role models, so what do you expect).

Now, I am sure MY megalomania warrants me a seat on the therapist couch with everyone else…

@ DJBA,

Thanks for the Roots track. Does this mean no more Larry Heard? Could it be the gods are smiling on Me?

@ Prof. Tracey,

As much as I would love to entertain you, I will not go into this any further on this post. The proper response would have been to click on My name at the bottom of the post, go to My website, find My contact info and email Me there. I tried to do the same for you, but you have no link available. So, feel free to send any comments directly to Me versus posting them here. I can tell you are definitely a Gin a fan, simply by your response. LOL...you're funny.

BE peace.

DJBA,

I posted my endorsement for Obama a couple of days ago:

http://gunfightersview.blogspot.com/2008/01/obama-for-president.html

I share your feelings about the old black guard (obg). Time and time again in the county I live in the OBG is trotted out by every Democrat that runs for office, and the OBG dutifuilly tries to convince his congregation (they are always ministers) to vote for them. Go to any Democratic function in my county and you'll see some black people, but the person delivering the prayer is always some old "He'pmejeezuz" minister... and after the paryer, he is swiftly ignored.

THE OBG doesn't want anybody upsetting their hustle.

Do you hear that Al? How about you, Jesse?

We're on to you.

As a fellow Chicagoan, I love this blog! You are right about the fear of black bloggers.

Plus, I've never been an Obama fan myself but I'm starting to change my mind about him. He's not going to be the worst President- regardless of how much experience he has.

Drop by my blog whenever you get a chance. Controversy ensues there as I discuss some "The New Talented Tenth"

See DJ, that's what I like about you, simple and direct. We could seriously redefine the term, 'hostile takeover'! -lol-
