    I Believe

I have my mansion now, Oh
    I Believe, I Believe, I Believe
I'll have me mansion now, Oh
I Believe, I believe just what he said

I'll do all things through Christ, Oh
    I Believe, I Believe, I Believe
I'll do all things through Christ, Oh
I Believe, I believe just what he said

He shall supply my need, Oh
    I Believe, I Believe, I Believe
He shall supply my need, Oh
I Believe, I believe just what he said

    BRIDGE I:

By faith I believe it, By faith I receive it
By faith I can have it, By faith I can share it
I believe just what he said

I have my mansion now, Oh
    I Believe, I Believe, I Believe
I'll have me mansion now, Oh
I Believe, I believe just what he said

He worked it out for me, Oh
    I Believe, I Believe, I Believe
He worked it out for me, Oh
I Believe, I believe just what he said

    Bridge II:

By faith I will know it, By faith I will show it
By faith I will bare it, and now I'll declare
I believe just what he said

I have my mansion now, Oh
    I Believe, I Believe, I Believe
I'll have me mansion now, Oh
I Believe, I believe just what he said

    I Believe, I Believe
    I Believe, I Believe, I Believe
    I Believe, I Believe
I Believe, I believe just what he said

He loosed the guilty stain, Oh
    I Believe, I Believe, I Believe
He loosed the guilty stain, Oh
I Believe, I Believe just what he said

As conscious and concerned Americans, we can not allow history to record the 21st century as an era that allowed racist and disparaging ideologies to shackle our doctrine of tolerance and acceptance. Therefore, it is a dismal day when a celebrated scholar, researcher, and biologist utters discriminatory comments. Today, Dr. James Watson has disgraced the honor of Nobel laureate.”

if the word used was "law" instead of "theory", how would that change the way you think of it? in other words, what do you think of the "theory of gravity"?

evolution is not a hypothesis. a theory is not a supposition. of course there has been a lot of wrong science but evolution is the way life happens.

@Tom:

From my understanding, scientific laws are similar to mathematical postulates. They need not have complex external proofs; they are accepted at face value based upon the fact that they have always been observed to be true. "Laws" in the scientific sense must be simple, true, universal, and absolute. If a law ever did not apply, then all science based upon that law would collapse.

Now, a theory is more like a scientific law than a hypothesis, but still not a LAW. A theory explains a group of related observations or events based upon proven hypotheses which are verified multiple times by unrelated groups of researchers. A single scientist cannot create a theory; he or she can only create a hypothesis. Surely, both a scientific theory and a scientific law are accepted to be true by the scientific community as a whole but sinse a law governs a single action, and a theory explains an entire group of related phenomena. Theories can be tweaked, and SHOULD be able to be challenged in that "tweaking" process is all I am saying.

Further to my point, is that we have to really be clear on what aspect of the Theory is being debated (if any) and how this scientific information is being utilized (if at all) within the greater society (not just the scientific community).

I’m just saying…

I whole heartedly agree, and thanks for posting and visiting the blog!! :-)

Good post! I happened to hear this story while waiting in the airport. I was the only black person in a sea of vanilla and at that moment I realized they were looking at me with a look of embarassment [or was it sympathy? hmmm...]. I do not believe many will deem his study credible - and those who will were probably racist anyway. Therefore I've chosen not to put much of my energy into something so purely ignorant.

When I heard this I almost couldn't believe it. I've actually met this man before (I did a research internship at Cold Spring Harbor) and I knew he was eccentric, but totally stupid? Who knew? I'm not surprised though; many white scientists have attempted to explain the racial gap in achievement by ignoring one thing; RACE!!! William Shockley, Richard Hernstein, Charles Murray, hell, even Robert Gallo. In fact, many institutions today like Planned Parenthood were actually started by eugeneticists hell bent on racial purity. They believed that blacks and minorities were responsible for the decline in the world's intelligence quotient.

Poor, senile, James. I won't even get into how colonialism has played a major role in the under development of Africa. Some white people attempt to deoderize their past by denying the truth and James is one of them. Hurry up and die man!

I see what a wonderful job the blacks have done with South Africa since wresting it from the hands of the British...

@Jeffrey:

A much better job than the White Serbians after the Soviet pull out...
