Don’t give a comic reader something to ponder!
We comic readers are a strange breed. (I’m talking the die hard comic fan who actually READS the comic book and doesn’t just put it in a plastic bag hopeing it becomes worth as much as Action Comics #1 in like a year, sheesh). I myself started reading them as a kid, took a little break when I was a teen, and came back to reading them when I was stationed in Cherry Point (in scenic “Havenot” (Havelock, N.C). and was bored as hell!
Annnnyyyway, my point is, when will people learn, we are NOT to be messed with. There are just some things you oughta know, one thing is a cardinal rule for Comic Readers:
1. A true comic reader ALWAYS has a contingency plan for when / if their (friends, family, spouses, business associates, etc.) turn against them!
I’m not naming any names here people, but recently in one of my business ventures, I had to break out my “contingency”. Why? Because they said something to me to led me to believe that they might be trying to conspire against me!!
lol, Seriously, if they had of just come out and said what was on their mind earlier as opposed to letting me guess, they would still have serious involvement in my project, what ended up happening was I assumed they didn’t want to complete their part, so I did it myself, and ended up doing it much better.
Now if they had read a Batman comic here or there, maybe they would have just been up front as opposed to letting me “Brood” and take appropriate counter measures.
Moral to the story, just be up front, you could save me from this dialogue.
Me: So do you have ______ ready? We really need to get____ to _____ as quickly as possible.
Unsuspecting Person (Who might be plotting): Uhm, no, we need to discuss a few things? I haven’t done _____ plus I have some other suggestions for_______
Me: Really (translation: OK, you don’t have ____, now I’ve got to make ____ as quickly as possible so you don’t get me screwd). O.K. Then, let me know when you have _____ ready for me____
Me: (After I get off the phone, Insert Dr. Doom / Batman brooding thought bubble): Hmmmmm. What’s going on here? This was supposed to have BEEN done. Very well, I will enact my contingency for such a situation (turns on computer, starts completing _____)
So then after I have done _____ unnamed person calls me like a week later (Still not completing _____ request):
Person: “Oh, I was just worried about (insert Minor detail)”
Me: O.K., unfortunately, I no longer require ______ I have completed it, going with this one. You’re still on board, just not in the capacity of ______.
Moral of the story, don’t leave it to MY imagination , because I can "imagine" quite a bit :-)
